Getting to Geelong and the Bellarine is super simple.

From the airports to Geelong

From

Melbourne Tullamarine Airport

Gull Airport Shuttle Bus

Regular direct coach service linking Melbourne Airport with Geelong. The easiest and quickest option from Tullamarine.

Approximately 1 hour.

Drive

Rental car or private vehicle.

Approximately 1 hour, depending on traffic.

Taxi / Rideshare

Direct from the airport to Geelong, convenient but more expensive than public transport.

Approximately 1 hour, depending on traffic.

SkyBus + VLine Train

Take SkyBus from the airport to Southern Cross Station in Melbourne (approximately 30 minutes), then catch a V/Line train to Geelong (1 hour).

Pre-booked transfer to Geelong or surrounding areas, good for group arrivals Approximately 20 minutes.

Drive

Renting a car at Avalon and driving to Geelong is straightforward and gives flexibility.

Quick and direct to Geelong city.

Approximately 20 minutes.

Bus

Route 18 runs between Lara Train Station and Avalon Airport, allowing you to connect to regular V/Line trains to Geelong - the first standard public transport link to Avalon.

By sea to Geelong

Melbourne (Docklands) to the region with Port Phillip Ferries

Travel from Docklands to Geelong via Portarlington 

  • Saturday and Sunday depart Docklands (Melbourne) 10.40am arrive on the Geelong Waterfront 12.50pm. 


Travel from Melbourne (Docklands) to Portarlington 

  • Monday to Friday there are 2 departing ferries. First departs Docklands at 9.30am and arrives at 10.40am and the 2nd and last for the day departs Docklands 5.40pm and arrive in Portarlington 6.50pm. 
  • Saturday and Sunday there are 2 ferries. Departing at 10.40am and arrives in Portarlington 11.50am and there is also a ferry that departs at 6.30pm and arrives at 7.40pm.

Travel from Sorrento to Queenscliff 

  • Ferries depart every hour on the hour starting at 7am and the crossing takes 40mins.
